Ball hockey, also known as dek hockey, is a fast-paced, outdoor variant of ice hockey played on a hard, smooth surface. It is usually played in a non-ice environment, making it accessible for players of all ages and skill levels. Ball hockey serves as an excellent training ground for aspiring ice hockey players. It helps build endurance, as the nonstop nature of the game encourages players to develop their cardiovascular fitness, mobility, and overall stamina.
The game is usually played with teams of three (3), four (4) or five (5) players, including a goalie, and the objective is to score goals by shooting a ball into the opposing team's net. Players wear minimal protective gear compared to ice hockey, often using just shin guards, gloves, and helmets, which allows for a more casual and approachable playing experience.
